BCL6 is a transcriptional regulator gene that encodes a 706 amino acid long nuclear zinc finger protein. In normal tissue, these antibodies show strong nuclear staining for a subset of B lymphocytes that are predominantly located in germinal centers (GC). BCL6 antibodies stain malignant cells in follicular lymphomas, diffuse large B-cell lymphomas, Burkitt lymphomas, classical Hodgkin lymphomas and the majority of tumor cells in nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphomas. BCL6 expression has also been observed in anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL).
